About Iris
When did she become a costumer? In reality, she began when she was four years old, exploring a wonderful costume shop in the town where she grew up. It was her favorite place to go. There she could find worlds of imagination and history while digging through the racks of fun and fantasy where she could become anything she wanted from warrior to dancer to mythical beast. She was hired there at fourteen to stock shelves, do minor repairs, and sell and rent costumes. She still sometimes shows up to help prep film rentals when it gets busy.
Iris graduated from the acclaimed School for Creative and Performing Arts in Cincinnati where she majored in Costume. While a high school student, she was granted an internship through a partnership program by SCPA, IATSE, and the Cincinnati Opera. She won two scholarship competitions while in high school - The Corbett-Mayerson Award, being the first costume major to win in over 20 years and a National Costumers Association Scholorship in the same year. This was followed by an internship with the Berlin Opera Academy where she designed and created costumes, makeup, and hair designs during the summer of 2019. She has had the opportunity to work on three films, two national consumer product commercials, and a six-part television show while a student. She currently works as a dresser and/or a stitcher at the Aronoff Center for their Broadway Series. She is a senior at the College Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati as a Costume Design and Technology major. After she graduates with a BFA in 2022, she intends to continue to work in costume in theater and film.
